Background
Kolmar Korea has won major global recognition after its Scar Beauty Device received the Best of Innovation in Beauty Tech award at CES 2026. The product was also named an honoree in the Digital Health category under the CES Innovation Awards.
The company, known as a leading original design manufacturer for Korean beauty brands such as Beauty of Joseon, Skin1004, and Round Lab, said the award highlights its shift from behind-the-scenes manufacturing to advanced beauty technology development.
According to the CES Innovation Awards, the Scar Beauty Device “redefines the role of a beauty device” by bringing together artificial intelligence-based skin analysis, smart drug and pigment delivery, and personalised tone matching in a compact, non-invasive system.
The handheld device works with a smartphone application. Users first take a photo of the scar using the app. The system then analyses the image to identify the location and type of scar. Based on this analysis, the device automatically applies the right medicine directly on the affected area, removing the need for users to choose and apply ointments themselves.
In addition to treatment, the device also functions as a makeup tool. It mixes up to 180 different powder shades to create a skin-tone match for the user and gently applies the product to cover the scar. This allows users to treat and conceal facial scars in a single step.
Kolmar Korea said it will finish the product’s development by the end of the first half of 2026. In the second half of the year, the company will look for global partners who want to bring the technology to market.
With this award, Kolmar Korea aims to position itself as a leader in the beauty tech space, moving beyond traditional cosmetics manufacturing into smart, AI-driven skincare solutions.
