Beiersdorf has launched Eucerin DERMOPURE CLINICAL PROBIOM8, a new skincare approach designed for acne-prone skin, built on more than two decades of microbiome research.
The German personal care group said the launch centers on a patented cosmetic active ingredient that uses viable, skin-identical probiotics to restore the skin’s natural microbiome balance.
Burcu Andrae Nehlsen, brand president of derma and healthcare at Beiersdorf, described the launch as evidence of how the company turns long-term research investment into relevant cosmetic solutions for consumers, adding that the innovation opens new perspectives in a skincare category that affects millions of people worldwide.
According to the company, the active ingredient behind the launch, known as TopiC.A, contains two naturally occurring bacteria strains held in a dormant state until they are activated during the skincare routine. These strains, selected for their presence in healthy looking skin, work to support the natural balance of the skin microbiome.
Dr. Gitta Neufang, chief research and development officer at Beiersdorf, said understanding the skin as thoroughly as possible forms the foundation of the company’s innovation work.
She said microbiome research has broadened scientific knowledge and continues to shape the next generation of skincare development, calling it one of the most active fields of research in dermatology.
The DERMOPURE CLINICAL PROBIOM8 routine includes four products, a daily cleanser, mask, probiotic treatment and moisturizer, designed for use over an eight week period.
