Background-
Dolce & Gabbana’s beauty division is on track for another year of double-digit growth, having pushed its wholesale revenues beyond €1 billion ($1.12 billion), CEO Gianluca Toniolo told the Italian financial newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.
Wholesale sales have more than tripled since the company brought the unit in-house from a licensing model. They grew 14 percent year on year, and the unit posted a double-digit operating profit. The result shows how quickly the business has scaled under direct control.
The brand plans its most intensive international push yet. Toniolo said it will strengthen its fragrance franchises, widen make-up distribution and launch a full skincare range.
The unit has grown from a fragrance-focused business into a broader beauty platform, and it is now expanding its retail footprint. Wholesale remains its main sales channel.
The Americas generate about 55 percent of total revenue, and the United States, the biggest market, delivers roughly 60 percent of those sales. Europe adds around 40 percent of total sales. Asia contributes just over 6 percent and is growing fast.
Toniolo said the unit will grow its network of standalone beauty boutiques to between 50 and 70 shops worldwide over the next three years, targeting the Middle East, India, Brazil, Mexico and the United States.
The boutique drive will give the brand more direct contact with beauty shoppers in fast-growing regions, while wholesale partners continue to anchor sales.
