Background

Capza, a France-based European private investment platform focused on small and mid-cap companies and part of BNP Paribas Asset Management Alts, has acquired a minority stake in French skincare company Respire. The founders of Respire will retain majority ownership following the transaction.

Respire’s founders, Justine Hutteau, Thomas Méheut and Guillaume Duiquet, said the deal allows them to stay majority shareholders while opening a new phase in the company’s growth, with ambitions to build a global leader in dermocosmetics.

Founded in 2018, Respire develops natural skincare products and has recorded steady growth, supported by its research and development efforts, innovation capabilities and an omnichannel approach combining online sales with pharmacy distribution. The brand has also built recognition for aligning with consumer demand for products that are both effective long-term and gentle on skin health.

Respire holds a leading position among deodorant brands sold in pharmacies and is gaining traction in the facial skincare segment, including sun protection, blemish treatment and radiance-focused products.

Capza said its capital investment would support Respire’s next stage of growth, helping the company expand in France and internationally while strengthening its position as a key player in its market. The comments came from Edouard de Beaufort, partner, and Victoire Simon, director, at Capza Flex Equity.
